A Splash of Color

When I have 5 minutes, and I don't feel like thinking (or reading for that matter) one of my favorite blogs to peruse is The Picture Show over at NPR.

As you know I'm a big fan of NPR and all their related shows. It's the one place you can test your perspective, learn about creepy art from the 1700s, and become bilingual in forest language.

My mind has been filled with sciency things this week.  Translation: I've been looking at black and white print nonstop for seven days and I needed a splash of color in my life.  The Picture Show came to the rescue for me with this piece.

Crayola Crayons were one of my favorite things growing up.  Nothing says back to school to me quite like a Crayola Big Box of 96 crayons.  I love that smell.  I hope some day someone bottles it up so I can place it as an air freshener in my house.  My home school friends (Pioneer Woman, OMSH, Adventurez ), wouldn't that be wonderful for your school room?

Of course there might be a problem with little ones wanting to eat the crayons, but you can cross that bridge when you get there.  (Great lesson in digestion if your into that sort of thing)

I would only think to use Crayola Crayons for you know coloring.  But what Herb Williams does with Crayola crayons is beyond my imagination.  He sculpts with them.  Here is one of my favorite pieces:

I really like this one too.

Read the interesting piece and then go check out his work.

Happy Friday,

Your pictures makes me want to break out the crayolas and see what I can create.
